Breast Augmentation Procedures

During an appointment regarding breast augmentation, Denver, Pueblo, and Colorado Springs patients will be able to discuss their options in breast surgery, as well as share their goals and expectations.

Patients who experience any of the following may qualify as eligible breast enhancement candidates:

• Naturally small breasts
• Loss of volume from childbirth/breastfeeding or weight loss
• Asymmetrical breasts

During a cosmetic breast augmentation (“augmentation mammaplasty”), Dr. Bland will insert either saline or silicone gel breast implants through one of three incision sites – under the breast, around the nipple, or through the armpit. Dr. Bland prefers placing the implants partially under the pectoral muscle; however, they may be placed on top of the muscle, depending on each patient’s individual needs.

Some of the most commonly performed breast procedures include breast reduction (“reduction mammaplasty”) and breast lift surgery (“mastopexy”).

Patients who want to undergo breast augmentation may also be interested in additional body contouring procedures, such as tummy tuck surgery (“abdominoplasty”) and/or liposuction (“lipoplasty”).
